Owning the EU-law frontend inside e-Sbírka
Delivering the complete EU-law frontend inside a large public portal, from search to digitized document detail.
View live productContext
e-Sbírka gives the public free access to current and historical Czech legislation and a dedicated EU-law section. Search, document structure, relationships, and large digitized texts make the viewing experience central to the product.
My contribution
- 01Implement the complete EU-law frontend, including its search experiences and legislative-document detail.
- 02Adapt the established digitized-document experience to different EU rendering rules, content structures, and hierarchies.
- 03Implement an externally designed, application-wide visual update that also required structural changes to Angular layouts.
Decisions that shaped the work
- 01Reuse the product's established search and detail patterns while extending them for the distinct structure of EU legislative content.
- 02Prioritize the document viewer during a late redesign push because it is the portal's core user experience.
- 03Diagnose excessive DOM output and synchronous content processing when unusually large documents froze the browser, restoring them to a navigable state.
Outcome & status
The complete portal, including the EU-law module, launched publicly on 1 January 2024 and remains available today. After launch, I continued stabilizing the application and resolving viewer defects through May 2024.
